Wuzu
In order to pray namaaz it is obligatory to perform wuzu. It is very important that we perform wuzu correctly; else our namaaz will not be accepted, even if we have prayed it most sincerely with all mustahabbaat and waajibaat.
We must perform wuzu in the sequence mentioned below:
Intention (neeyat)
Intention at heart is sufficient and pronouncing by tongue is not essential. Intention must be done in the following manner: ‘I am
performing wuzu قُرْبَةً اِلَى الله
Face
We must first wash our face with water.
Right hand
After washing the face, we must wash our right hand with water. We must wash our hand from the elbow to the tips of the fingers.
Left hand
After washing the right hand in the above-mentioned manner, we must likewise wash our left hand.
Masah (wiping) of the head
After washing the left hand, we must do masah of the head with the moisture of the right hand.
Masah (wipe) of right foot
After the masah of the head, we must do the masah of the right foot with the moisture of the right hand from the tip of the right foot to the ankle.
Masah (wipe) of left foot
After the masah of the right foot, we must do the masah of the left foot with the moisture of the left hand.
Apart from namaaz, wuzu is obligatory if one wishes to touch the Quranic verses, names of Allah, the Prophets (a.s.) and the Holy Imams (a.s.).
