Mahmood’s watch was not working well. He gave it to a watch repairer. He fixed the watch, but did not do the job very well. However despite that, he charged Mahmood the entire fee for repairing the watch.
As a result, after some time, the watch stopped working and Mahmood had to face a lot of difficulties. He missed his train / bus and was late for school, tuition, etc. All this happened due to the deceit of the watch repairer and not repairing the watch properly.
It is the responsibility of every person that he should sincerely complete the task that has been allocated to him. If that person cannot fulfill the responsibility then he should say so clearly at the very outset instead of deceiving the people around him.
Islam has prohibited deceit. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) declared:
‘One who deceives a Muslim is not a Muslim. A Muslim who deceives other Muslims has defective faith and he will not be included amongst Muslims.’
